Business Database Directory Lists – What Are They And How could you boost your business with Them?

What the heck are Business Lists?

Fair question. Business Lists are basically lists of businesses who might give you money. In the crazy world of being a business owner you have two options:

1. Hope and pray that companies are out there searching for the product or service that your company provides, or…
2. Take it upon yourself to find those companies who need your service/product so they don’t accidentally find your competition first.

Most people who like money choose option 2, but of course looking for potential customers is far different than finding potential customers. As a business owner, you’re probably really good at whatever your business does, be it education, builder, plumbing, selling insurance, or taming dogs.

Me? I’m good at finding people who want stuff, and getting their contact information. Then I put them into VERY specific lists so you can tell them all about your product or service. So, instead of shooting off fireworks, putting up billboards and placing tons of expensive ads all over the place, you can just talk directly to the people who are most likely to give you money. Pretty simple, huh?

So what kinds of people are on these lists anyway?

Business lists list, well, businesses. What kind of businesses? A better question is what businesses AREN’T in my database. Trust me, that’s a MUCH shorter list! But that’s not your real question,  Your real question is, “How can I be sure these lists are going to make me money?”

Well, these lists are presorted for a variety of criteria. The criteria can include business type, company size, company industry, employee count, annual revenue, location, sales volume, and many other options. If you know what your ideal customer/business owner looks like, I can find a whole list of people or companies that fit the bill.

Do you think that if you had a way to contact people according to criteria you specified that you could make money? Yeah, I thought so too.

Well, what kind of “contact information” are you talking about?

In this wonderful world of technology, there are a million ways for people to stay in touch, and you might be comfortable with some or all of them. That’s why how you contact these people is completely up to you.

You can step up from direct mail to targeted telephone, fax and/or e-mail contacts. You can even choose to provide your marketing message to multiple different lists in a single campaign, and track your responses to discover where you are getting the best response from. This way, you can further refine your efforts in future campaigns and being the best at attracting new business.

All in all, the options are pretty good, right?

OK, this is fantastic… maybe a little TOO fantastic though. How much is this going to cost me?

Buying one of these lists is actually far less expensive than buying an ad that people will ignore or paying for a TV spot that will never be seen. Seriously, why are you trying to reach 1 out of 10 (if you’re lucky) when you can have a list of people who are ready to be a captive audience?

Just check out the type of business list you’re most interested, read the details, and ask yourself, “If I can turn just a THIRD of the people on this list into customers, how much money will I make?”
